Senior Data Engineer

About the role

Protein Works is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to own and evolve its data pipelines, warehouse and overall data infrastructure. You will enable faster, more reliable decision‑making across marketing, trading, operations and finance while supporting the company’s AI transition.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain end‑to‑end BI infrastructure, from requirement gathering to production‑ready pipelines.
• Develop data pipelines using APIs, ETL/ELT processes and SQL.
• Collaborate with Data Analyst colleagues to deliver actionable business insights.
• Ensure the quality, security and performance of the Data Lake and Data Warehouse.
• Implement robust CI/CD processes for data pipelines with Cloud Build and GitHub.
• Monitor pipeline health, optimise performance and control infrastructure costs.
• Apply strong data modelling, semantic consistency and metadata discipline for discoverable, usable data.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in data engineering and a passion for clean, reliable pipelines.
• Proven ability to own data solutions from concept through production.
• Comfort working with Google Cloud services and modern data stacks.
• Strong analytical mindset and attention to data governance.
