Senior Delegated Authority Underwriter (Non-Standard Motor)

About the role

IPS Group is seeking a Senior Delegated Authority Underwriter to lead non‑standard motor underwriting initiatives. Working in a hybrid model from Chelmsford or London, you will own delegated authority schemes and help shape the underwriting strategy for a leading insurer.

Key responsibilities

• Support the development of underwriting strategy together with pricing teams.
• Manage and review delegated authority scheme performance through monthly MI analysis.
• Identify and assess new scheme opportunities.
• Monitor market trends, technology, data insights and customer feedback.
• Maintain and update product specifications and rate charts.
• Ensure products remain competitive and compliant with regulatory standards.
• Drive process improvements across products and functions.

Required profile

• Proven experience in underwriting, product development or a technical insurance role.
• Experience with delegated authority schemes is highly desirable.
• Strong data interpretation skills to identify risks and opportunities from MI.
• Good understanding of underwriting appetite and governance.
• Stakeholder and project management experience.
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
