Senior Electrical Commissioning Engineer (Ships)

About the role

The Senior Electrical Commissioning Engineer (Ships) will lead test and commissioning activities for complex onboard electrical systems within the Dreadnought Submarine programme. You will ensure safe, compliant delivery while coordinating with engineering teams, contractors and key stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead test and commissioning of onboard electrical systems, delivering assigned work packages safely and efficiently.
• Plan and coordinate commissioning activities with engineering teams, contractors and stakeholders, including representation during sea trials.
• Review technical drawings and design documentation to produce accurate test and commissioning records.
• Identify and implement safe isolation requirements for ship systems in line with legislation and company procedures.
• Maintain detailed records of commissioning work and mentor less‑experienced engineers.

Required profile

• HNC qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge of electrical control, instrumentation and complex system operations.
• Proven experience commissioning power plants, motors, high‑voltage and distribution systems.
• Practical experience using electrical test equipment and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
