Senior Finance Officer (Accounts Payable)

About the role

Butler Rose is partnering with a leading housing association in London and the South East to hire a Senior Finance Officer (Accounts Payable). This three‑month temporary position offers a hybrid working model, with a minimum of two days per week in the Kings Cross office.

Key responsibilities

• Manage high‑volume accounts payable transactions and complex supplier accounts.
• Lead the clearance of historical AP backlogs, including aged creditor balances and unreconciled statements.
• Perform supplier statement reconciliations and investigate invoice discrepancies.
• Process and review large volumes of supplier invoices and payment requests.
• Monitor outstanding liabilities and proactively address aged balances.
• Act as the escalation point for complex supplier payment queries.
• Produce reports and analysis on aged creditors, supplier balances, and payment performance.
• Use Microsoft Dynamics 365 or SUN system to resolve financial issues.
• Provide guidance to junior finance colleagues and support a collaborative team environment.

Required profile

• Part‑qualified AAT, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent, or significant AP experience.
• Extensive experience in high‑volume accounts payable processing.
• Proven track record of clearing financial backlogs and resolving historic payment issues.
• Experience in a shared‑service or large, complex organisation.
• Strong knowledge of AP processes, financial controls, and regulatory compliance.

Required skills

• Microsoft Dynamics 365 (or SUN system)
• Advanced Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, reconciliation techniques)
