Senior Financial Consultant

About the role

CIPFA is expanding its Advisory department and seeks a Senior Financial Consultant to work with high‑profile public and government bodies. You will help clients understand financial and non‑financial challenges, improve financial resilience and support transformation projects.

Key responsibilities

• Support design, development and delivery of CIPFA Advisory strategic plan.
• Provide input to corporate initiatives across policy, marketing and service delivery.
• Represent CIPFA Advisory at conferences, seminars and workshops.
• Build and manage relationships with senior public‑sector stakeholders.
• Develop integrated advisory solutions and prepare proposals and presentations.
• Ensure projects are delivered on‑time, on‑budget and to scope.

Required profile

• Significant experience in a public‑sector finance role or as a consultant to the public sector.
• Established network of contacts across the public sector.
• Motivated, challenge conventional thinking and introduce smarter ways of working.
• Share CIPFA values of accountability, openness, fairness and support.

Required skills

• Ability to define business needs, develop technical requirements and propose practical solutions.
• Experience collecting, validating, analysing and disseminating data and reports.
