About the role
Bureau Veritas is seeking an experienced Senior Fire Engineer to deliver high‑quality fire engineering services across the full building lifecycle, from concept design through construction and operation, for a diverse client base in the UK.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain industry relationships and identify fire engineering opportunities.
- Provide technical guidance in proposals and tenders.
- Manage fire engineering projects across sectors, overseeing team, progress and budget.
- Liaise with clients, design teams and approval bodies, attend meetings and update project status.
- Prepare fire strategies, conduct fire engineering analysis (radiation, smoke modelling, structural) and support projects from concept to completion.
- Undertake site visits, provide design and construction support, and produce technical reports.
Required profile
- Degree in Fire Engineering (or related) – a Master’s is advantageous.
- Demonstrable fire engineering experience, preferably with structural fire engineering.
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards it (Interim Registration with the Engineering Council).
- Experience of site inspections during construction and for existing buildings.
- Strong analytical, report writing and communication skills.
- Proficiency with standard IT applications such as Word and Excel.
Required skills
- Fire engineering analysis (radiation, smoke modelling, structural).
- Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modelling for smoke movement and fire dynamics (desirable).
- Use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
