Senior IT Buyer – Lead Procurement Role

About the role

Matchtech is seeking a Senior Buyer to lead procurement across a wide range of Information Technology categories. This permanent, hybrid position is based in Stevenage and supports the company’s defence and technology operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support procurement for software, SaaS, hardware, networks, cyber security, AI and IT services.
• Manage end‑to‑end sourcing activities, including supplier engagement, negotiation, contract placement and performance management.
• Own large‑scale procurement projects in partnership with Category Managers and key stakeholders.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and international suppliers across the UK and Europe.
• Develop and execute sourcing strategies to deliver cost savings and operational efficiency.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of procurement processes and governance.
• Travel internationally for supplier and stakeholder meetings as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience in procurement, preferably within IT categories or indirect spend.
• Demonstrated ability to manage procurement processes and supplier relationships in a complex environment.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience in an international setting.
• Track record of delivering sourcing activities and supporting procurement strategy execution.
• Proactive, adaptable and able to manage multiple priorities and projects.
• MCIPS qualification or working towards it (desirable).
• Eligibility to live and work in the UK and meet security‑clearance requirements.
