Senior IT Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior IT Engineer to provide on‑site and remote support for schools and colleges across Liverpool and Merseyside. The role is hybrid, requiring three days per week on client sites and two days of remote work. A full UK driving licence and personal vehicle are essential.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver contracted on‑site IT support to primary, secondary and further education clients.
• Diagnose and resolve server failures, including OS, hardware, RAID and virtualisation issues.
• Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, and Microsoft 365 administration.
• Provide cyber‑security incident response, endpoint protection, web filtering and maintain Cyber Essentials compliance.
• Configure networking components such as VLANs, managed switches, wireless access points, firewalls and routing.
• Support Apple devices and manage mobile devices via MDM platforms (Mosyle, Jamf, Intune).
• Undertake reactive client visits and contribute to project delivery.

Required profile

• Minimum four years of senior IT support or systems engineering experience within the education sector.
• Ability to work independently without supervision.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical issues clearly to non‑technical stakeholders.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a personal vehicle.
