Senior Lead, AI, Digital and Data Capacity Development

About the role

Save the Children International is seeking a senior leader to shape the global strategy for AI, digital and data capacity development. The role will drive adoption of AI across the organisation, ensuring staff can leverage these tools to improve programme delivery and decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute a multi‑year strategy for AI, digital and data capability across all functions and geographies.
• Lead the design, rollout and continuous improvement of AI and data training programmes, fostering a culture of responsible AI use.
• Chair senior leadership forums, hold executive and country‑level teams accountable for AI adoption, and convene cross‑entity collaboration groups.
• Oversee AI ethics and risk governance, ensuring policies reflect the organisation’s values of ambition, accountability and integrity.
• Engage with users to gather insights for inclusive, accessible data products and tools.
• Manage AI training spend within the broader AI/Digital/Data budget.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience setting and owning organisation‑wide AI strategy in a global, federated environment.
• Demonstrated ability to influence executive and country‑director level stakeholders and secure commitment for AI initiatives.
• Strong change‑management expertise with a track record of driving organisational culture shifts.
• Deep understanding of AI technical and non‑technical risks, including ethical considerations.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with generative AI tools (chat assistants, enterprise copilots, agents).
• Ability to assess AI output quality and explain limitations to non‑technical audiences.
• Data analysis and visualisation proficiency for evidence‑based decision‑making.
• Knowledge of AI risk assessment and ethical governance frameworks.
