Senior Management Accountant – Insurance

About the role

Oliver James, an established insurance organisation, is seeking a Senior Management Accountant to join its finance team in London. This hybrid role (two days a week in the office) offers the chance to own financial reporting, expense analysis, budgeting and forecasting while supporting finance transformation initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Produce accurate monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Lead expense reporting, including detailed variance and cost allocation analysis.
• Prepare budgets, forecasts and financial plans, providing performance insights.
• Perform balance‑sheet reconciliations and support the monthly/quarterly close.
• Maintain the general ledger, complete bank reconciliations and ensure data quality.
• Assist with statutory, regulatory and group reporting requirements.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to continuous improvement projects.

Required profile

• Proven experience producing monthly management accounts.
• Strong background in expense analysis, budgeting, forecasting and reconciliations.
• Solid understanding of balance‑sheet accounting and financial controls.
• Excellent analytical ability with high attention to detail.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP)
• SAP or a similar ERP/finance system

What we offer
