Senior Product Designer, The New Yorker

About the role

The New Yorker is looking for a Senior Product Designer in London to shape its digital experiences and its Puzzles & Games offering. The work spans games and the surrounding experiences, from gameplay and feedback to discovery, onboarding and returning to play. The team meets in the office four days a week (Monday to Thursday).

Key responsibilities

• Design games and the experiences around them, connecting reading and play to lasting habits.
• Translate distinctive editorial brand identities into clear, accessible interfaces, paying attention to typography, hierarchy, layout and interaction.
• Use prototypes to refine behaviour, timing, motion and feedback, and run lightweight usability tests with UX Research.
• Work with engineers, product managers, researchers and editorial partners, collaborating early on feasibility and reviewing work as it is built.
• Use shared components, patterns and design tokens, and contribute reusable solutions.
• Explore where AI tools can add value to design, prototyping and collaboration with engineering.
• Measure impact against engagement, repeat use and retention, and share findings with the team.

Required profile

• A portfolio showing real digital products, with clear decisions and trade-offs.
• Strong visual and interaction design skills, especially typography, detail and the quality of the finished experience.
• Ability to turn an ambiguous problem into a clear direction and to work with research and data.
• Interest in editorial products, puzzles and games, and comfort working across brands.

Required skills

• Figma and interactive prototyping.
• Design systems, tokens and technical constraints.
• Familiarity with AI tools in design practice.
