Senior Production Scientist – Tissue Procurement & Processing

About the role

The Senior Production Scientist will lead the Tissue Procurement & Processing workstream within the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) TCAT Directorate. Based at the Jack Copland Centre, you will oversee GMP‑compliant retrieval and production of a wide range of tissues and cells from both living and deceased donors.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the tissue procurement and processing workstream, ensuring adherence to GMP standards.
• Manage the retrieval, processing, and production of tissues and cellular therapy products.
• Coordinate with cross‑functional teams to support national programmes and clinical services.
• Participate in an on‑call rota to provide timely support for urgent processing needs.
• Maintain documentation and quality records in line with regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Honours degree (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific discipline.
• Demonstrable experience in GMP manufacture of tissue and/or cellular therapy products.
• Willingness to undergo a Disclosure Scotland check and, if applicable, an overseas criminal record check.
• Residency in the UK with entitlement to work in the UK.
