Senior Project Manager – NHS Capital Projects (Contract)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead a portfolio of capital infrastructure and sustainability projects for an NHS Trust in the North West of England. The role involves overseeing multiple concurrent works across active hospital sites with a total programme value of around £10 million. The contract is for six months, starting as soon as possible.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of concurrent capital projects across live hospital environments with a combined value of circa £10 m.
• Coordinate design teams, contractors and Trust stakeholders, handling procurement, phasing, cost management and governance reporting.
• Ensure timely invoice payments and that project budgets are not exceeded.
• Produce monthly financial reports for the capital programme and present them to the Trust board.
• Chair the capital finance steering group meetings.
• Oversee specific workstreams such as roofing and window replacement, solar panel installation, MRI and Gamma department reconfigurations, and radiotherapy bunker design studies.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Senior Project Manager, Programme Manager or Capital Project Manager.
• Track record delivering capital works in live, operational environments, preferably within NHS estates or other healthcare/public sector estates.
• Ability to manage multi‑project portfolios with a combined value of £5 m+.
• Strong governance, financial reporting and stakeholder management skills.
• Available to start at short notice.
