Senior Software Test Engineer

About the role

We are recruiting a Senior Software Test Engineer to join a medical diagnostics business developing rapid point‑of‑care testing technology for healthcare environments. The role focuses on verification and validation of software used in regulated medical device products, ensuring quality, reliability and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Review software requirements to confirm they are clear, complete and testable.
• Design, document and execute manual and system‑level software tests.
• Create test plans, test cases, test reports and verification documentation.
• Raise, investigate and track software defects, supporting root‑cause analysis and re‑testing of fixes.
• Collaborate closely with software, hardware, systems and quality engineering teams.
• Contribute to test strategy, tooling and process improvements.
• Mentor and support junior engineers.

Required profile

• Proven experience in software testing, QA or verification for complex products.
• Strong ability to write test cases, test plans and detailed documentation.
• Experience reviewing requirements and identifying test scenarios.
• Defect management and root‑cause analysis experience.
• Ability to work effectively with multi‑disciplinary engineering teams.
• Desirable experience in medical device, diagnostics or regulated environments and knowledge of IEC 62304, ISO 13485.
