Senior Systems Engineer – Optics

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to own the development of next‑generation laser‑photonics products, guiding them from early concept through to reliable customer deployment. This technical leadership position spans system architecture, integration, verification and productisation of complex opto‑electro‑mechanical solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Define system architecture, requirements and detailed design for ultrafast laser products.
• Integrate femtosecond laser sources with precision motion stages, adaptive optics, electronics and machine‑vision components.
• Develop verification plans and test frameworks to transition prototypes into deliverable products.
• Collaborate with software, hardware and manufacturing partners to balance photonics performance, mechanical precision, reliability and manufacturability.
• Engage with industrial suppliers and drive system‑level integration activities.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Physics, Optical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience across the full product lifecycle – from concept to production.
• Proven expertise in ultrafast/femtosecond laser systems and adaptive optics.
• Track record integrating precision motion‑controlled stages.
• Strong photonics background, including fibre coupling and photonic integrated circuits.
• Experience with industrial‑grade system integration and supplier management.
