Senior Underwriter - Financial Risk (Credit, Political Risk, Surety & Mortgage Treaty Reinsurance)

About the role

This is a global, full-time permanent role within the Specialty Reinsurance team, based in London. The underwriter contributes to the vision and strategy of the global Financial Risks Reinsurance portfolio and takes underwriting business in line with the Specialty Reinsurance business plan. The main lines are trade credit, surety, mortgage and political risk.

Key responsibilities

• Develop the existing Financial Risks reinsurance book and look for growth and improvement opportunities, working on other product lines within the wider Specialty team
• Manage business on a client relationship basis within agreed risk appetite, overseeing issues raised and liaising on complaints and claims
• Analyse locations and markets to identify new business, products and clients, and write risks within agreed parameters
• Provide oversight of underwriting performance and report on pipelines, new opportunities and progress towards strategic goals
• Liaise with regional compliance on underwriting management, take corrective action where needed and stay within agreed authorities
• Take part in product forums and client segmentation activities, and comply with the Business Ethics policy and group policies

Required profile

• In-depth knowledge, expertise, relationships and strong experience of Financial Risks Reinsurance markets
• Good understanding of relevant risk, regulatory and legal requirements
• CFA and/or ACII or other relevant qualifications are an advantage
• Strong business and commercial market awareness, and ability to build and manage client relationships
