Senior Warehouse and Decontamination Officer

About the role

The Senior Warehouse and Decontamination Officer will lead a small team responsible for managing the warehouse and decontamination processes for the Leeds Community Equipment Service. This role ensures that equipment is received, stored, cleaned, and dispatched in line with LCES standards while maintaining health and safety compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Line‑manage warehouse assistants and cleaning operatives, supporting development and maintaining staff records.
• Oversee receipt, stacking, storage, and dispatch of community equipment.
• Implement and maintain standard operating procedures for warehouse and decontamination activities.
• Monitor inventory levels, conduct physical counts, and reconcile records.
• Prevent and resolve stock discrepancies, damages, and losses.
• Liaise with transport providers to ensure timely delivery.
• Maintain a secure, safe environment and enforce health‑and‑safety protocols, including COSHH.
• Prepare regular reports on operations, inventory status, and issues.
• Manage the flow of returned items through pre‑cleaning, cleaning, and workshop stages.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a logistics or warehouse environment with responsibility for stock financial management.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise, motivate and develop staff.
• Strong organisational and time‑management capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build constructive relationships.
