Shift Engineer - Carlton Tower

About the role

Jumeirah Carlton Tower, a luxury hotel in Knightsbridge, London, is looking for a Shift Engineer. The engineer keeps the hotel's mechanical and electrical systems running smoothly, responds to maintenance faults and carries out regular patrols to spot repairs needed.

Key responsibilities

• Know and follow the company's procedures and policies.
• Check that all mechanical and electrical systems and tools are working and in good repair.
• Respond to and fix emergency maintenance faults reported through the maintenance reporting platform, prioritising those affecting health and safety, guests or guest service, and follow up with the guest once completed.
• Update the maintenance reporting platform while on duty, following system use procedures.
• Carry out daily patrols of the front and back of house to spot maintenance needs, such as replacing light bulbs in public areas.
• Report fire and life safety matters immediately to the manager, or to security or the duty manager in their absence.

Required profile

• Electrical or mechanical UK trade qualification.
• Experience in a luxury hospitality environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to handle complex engineering issues quickly and minimise downtime.
• In-depth knowledge of local and industry regulations, including building codes, safety protocols and environmental regulations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, able to explain technical information clearly to team members, other departments and external contractors.
