Shift Lead – Food Operations

About the role

The Shift Lead – Food role is responsible for overseeing the fill operation on the sales floor, ensuring the store is ready to trade and delivering a smooth, safe, and efficient customer experience. You will coordinate resources, coach colleagues, and act as the on‑site leader when the Colleague Manager is absent.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the fill operation, coaching staff on the One Best Way methodology and driving productivity.
• Allocate and coordinate resources to deliver a quick payment experience and maintain a clean, safe, well‑presented store.
• Act as a key holder, handling opening and closing duties, vehicle receipt, temperature controls, cash handling, and TSL compliance.
• Support Colleague Managers by providing observations to improve performance and recognise high‑achieving colleagues.
• Provide operational support to nearby stores when required.
• Ensure health and safety legislation is followed; all colleagues must be 18 years or older.

Required profile

• Minimum age of 18 years.
• Strong leadership and communication skills to motivate a diverse team.
• Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast‑paced retail environment.
• Commitment to delivering excellent customer service and modelling M&S behaviours.
