Shift Manager – Dispatch

About the role

We are looking for a Shift Manager – Dispatch to lead our depot operations at DPD’s Ferndown site. You will work closely with both self‑employed owner‑drivers and employed drivers, ensuring they are motivated, well‑managed and that delivery standards are met.

Key responsibilities

• Achieve depot targets for core routes and stops per route (SPR).
• Set up delivery and collection routes and ensure drivers scan and load vans safely and efficiently.
• Maintain ongoing communication with drivers to resolve issues promptly.
• Allocate resources for ad‑hoc collections using the driver pool or external couriers.
• Complete all required documentation and system entries in line with company and legislative standards.
• Monitor and report on key performance indicators such as service, cost, productivity, transport and health & safety.
• Ensure the depot meets “Depot Clear” targets.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a fast‑paced operation with people‑management responsibility, preferably in transport or logistics.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
• Decisive decision‑making, problem‑resolution and time‑management abilities.
• High resilience, self‑motivation and flexibility.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Google Chrome applications for reporting and data analysis.
