Shipping Manager / Senior Shipping Clerk

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Shipping professional to join a growing international food importer in London. The position is fully office‑based and offers the chance to shape shipping operations while working closely with the wider supply‑chain team.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate international import and export shipments from origin to final delivery.
• Liaise daily with freight forwarders, shipping lines, customs brokers, transport companies and warehouse partners.
• Monitor shipment schedules, resolve delays and delivery issues.
• Prepare and verify Bills of Lading, Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Certificates of Origin and other customs documentation.
• Ensure compliance with customs regulations and import requirements.
• Coordinate deliveries with warehouse and internal departments.
• Monitor freight costs, identify cost‑saving opportunities and negotiate rates and service agreements.
• Manage relationships with third‑party logistics providers and carriers.
• Investigate shipment discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
• Produce shipping reports and maintain accurate records.
• Support continuous improvement across shipping and supply‑chain operations.

Required profile

• Previous experience in shipping, logistics, freight forwarding or supply‑chain roles.
• Proven experience coordinating international imports and exports.
• Strong understanding of shipping documentation and customs procedures.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
• Commercial awareness and ability to work in a fast‑paced international environment.
