Software Engineer – High-Performance Trading Systems

About the role

We are seeking a Software Engineer to join an elite buy-side fund in London. The role sits at the intersection of finance and technology, building and optimising mission-critical trading infrastructure that powers real-time investment decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise high-performance trading systems operating in latency-sensitive environments.
• Write efficient, production-grade code focused on minimising latency, maximising throughput and ensuring reliability under demanding market conditions.
• Collaborate with traders, researchers and fellow engineers to deliver technology that drives investment and trading decisions.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, machine-learning techniques and advanced tooling to maintain a competitive edge.

Required profile

• Strong proficiency in an object-oriented programming language.
• Experience with low-latency, distributed or performance-critical development (preferred).
• Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, networking and computer architecture.
• Proven ability to design scalable, high-throughput systems and diagnose performance bottlenecks.
• Curious problem-solver who thrives in fast-paced, intellectually demanding environments.
