Software Security Engineer

About the role

Join Matchtech’s software engineering function and work across the full product portfolio, applying modern and innovative technologies. You will lead security throughout the product lifecycle, from concept and design to delivery and in‑service support.

Key responsibilities

• Define and guide security requirements, architecture, and design patterns for software projects.
• Provide hands‑on technical guidance to development and project teams, including coding standards and best practices.
• Evaluate and select security‑focused technologies and frameworks.
• Conduct security assessments, risk analysis, and vulnerability identification, and define mitigation strategies.
• Drive continuous improvement of engineering processes, tools, and methodologies.
• Maintain up‑to‑date security documentation, processes, and guidelines.
• Produce security metrics and reporting to track activities, vulnerabilities, and remediation.

Required profile

• Experience developing complex software products in regulated or safety‑critical sectors such as defence, automotive, aerospace or telecoms.
• Practical software security experience with knowledge of relevant standards and best practices.
• Strong collaborator and technical leader with excellent communication and influencing skills.
• Interest in emerging technologies and current security challenges.
• STEM degree or equivalent experience; ability to work across disciplines.
• Eligibility for UK security clearance (British citizen or dual UK national).
