Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant – Chelmsford

About the role

We are looking for enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to join a leading Special Needs School in Chelmsford. You will work closely with teachers to support students aged 5 to 19 who have complex learning needs, including autism and challenging behaviour. This role offers the chance to make a real difference in a supportive, inclusive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with teachers to deliver personalised learning plans.
• Assist students during classroom activities, ensuring engagement and understanding.
• Provide one‑on‑one support for personal care and social‑emotional needs.
• Implement behaviour management strategies to maintain a positive learning atmosphere.

Required profile

• Genuine passion for working with students with special educational needs.
• Excellent communication skills and adaptability.
• At least one year of experience in a school or care setting in the UK (desired).
• Proficiency in English and the right to work in the UK (no sponsorship).
