Speech and Language Therapist – Band 6 (Specialist College)

About the role

We are seeking a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join an outstanding specialist college in Kingston. You will work with young adults (16+) who have learning disabilities, autism and complex communication needs, helping them develop the skills required for education, employment and daily life.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver person‑centred speech and language therapy interventions.
• Assess communication, eating and drinking needs.
• Support learners using Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
• Manage an independent clinical caseload.
• Train and coach teaching and support staff.
• Collaborate with families and external professionals to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Promote communication, independence and inclusion across the college.

Required profile

• Degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
• Current HCPC registration.
• Eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
• Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities and autism.
• Knowledge of AAC and eating/drinking assessment.
• Collaborative, proactive and person‑centred approach.
