Staff Nurse – Sub‑Acute Elderly Medicine Ward

About the role

Join a 21‑bed sub‑acute elderly medicine and rehabilitation ward delivering patient‑centred care for long‑term conditions such as respiratory, cardiovascular and orthopaedic illnesses. The role offers a supportive, nurse‑led environment with clear pathways for professional development.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive patient care through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care programmes.
• Supervise and mentor junior and unqualified staff, delivering teaching and guidance as needed.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to achieve local service objectives.
• Assist the Matron/Sister in the day‑to‑day running of the ward, ensuring safety and efficiency.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (experienced, newly qualified or due to qualify) with a commitment to continuous learning.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
• Willingness to contribute to ward development and patient‑centred initiatives.

Required skills

• Patient assessment and care planning.
• Supervision and teaching of junior staff.
• Effective communication within a multidisciplinary team.
