Staff Software Engineer

About the role

CoMind is building a non‑invasive neuromonitoring platform for clinical brain monitoring. As a Staff Software Engineer you will own complex embedded and real‑time C++ challenges, shaping the architecture that powers safety‑critical medical devices.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain high‑performance embedded C++ components, including hardware abstraction layers, device drivers and data‑acquisition pipelines.
• Define technical strategy, manage cross‑team dependencies and set the long‑term vision for the embedded architecture.
• Act as a bridge between engineering and non‑technical stakeholders (Product, Clinical, Regulatory) to ensure alignment on project goals.
• Mentor engineers, promote code quality, conduct reviews and enforce IEC 62304 development practices.
• Collaborate with electronics and FPGA teams on hardware‑software integration, system bring‑up and debugging.
• Contribute to risk management, software hazard analysis and traceability in line with ISO 14971.

Required profile

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on systems‑level architecture.
• Deep expertise in modern C++ (C++17 or later) and real‑time constraints.
• Hands‑on experience with embedded Linux, device driver development and hardware abstraction.
• Background in a regulated industry (medical devices, aerospace, automotive) and familiarity with IEC 62304.
• Strong understanding of hardware‑software integration, including FPGA, microcontroller interfaces and communication buses (SPI, I2C, UART, PCIe).
