Staff Systems Administrator – Enterprise IT Owner

About the role

Shield AI is looking for a highly autonomous Staff Systems Administrator to own and operate enterprise IT infrastructure and end‑user computing for a security‑sensitive entity. The role combines deep infrastructure ownership with hands‑on service delivery in a regulated, segmented environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain on‑premises and cloud (Azure/AWS) servers, storage, backup, identity services, core network services and enterprise applications.
• Administer firewalled, ring‑fenced entity environments, ensuring strict separation of systems, data, identities and access from other corporate domains.
• Develop and enforce secure configuration baselines, patching and vulnerability‑remediation workflows for Windows, macOS, Linux and network devices.
• Manage Active Directory/Entra ID, endpoint platforms (Intune, Jamf), device provisioning, lifecycle and compliance policies.
• Produce audit‑ready evidence, support internal and external audits, and participate in incident response and disaster‑recovery activities.

Required profile

• 8 + years of experience in systems administration, infrastructure engineering or enterprise IT operations.
• Proven ability to independently own production IT infrastructure in a complex, regulated or security‑sensitive organization.
• Strong documentation, risk communication and stakeholder‑management skills with minimal supervision.

Required skills

• Windows, macOS and Linux server administration.
• Azure and/or AWS cloud platforms.
• Active Directory, Entra ID (or equivalent) identity management.
• Intune, Jamf or comparable endpoint management tools.
• Network fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, VPN, firewall policies.
• Patch management, vulnerability remediation, encryption, EDR/XDR, MFA and least‑privilege access controls.
• Scripting/automation for configuration and reporting.
