Stores Coordinator – Southampton

About the role

We are looking for a highly organised and proactive Stores Coordinator to support day‑to‑day operations of our stores function in Southampton. The role ensures that materials, consumables, tooling and stock are available to support rail maintenance and production activities safely, efficiently and on time.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate stock, material and order databases; receive, inspect, book in and issue materials.
• Carry out regular stock counts, visual inspections and ensure proper labelling and storage.
• Monitor stock levels, arrange replenishment and coordinate tooling orders.
• Pick, pack and prepare materials for operational and maintenance programmes; load and unload vehicles safely.
• Raise authorised transport requests and manage material movements between suppliers, depots and operational sites.
• Conduct daily and weekly checks on material‑handling equipment and inspect storage facilities for safety.
• Comply with all company, site and stores procedures, supporting health, safety and environmental standards.
• Participate in random drug and alcohol testing and other site compliance requirements.

Required profile

• Well‑organised, dependable and detail‑oriented with strong time‑management abilities.
• Proactive and able to manage competing priorities in a busy stores environment.
• Safety‑focused and committed to following established procedures.
• Comfortable working hands‑on in stores and logistics, including loading/unloading.
• Effective communicator, both written and verbal.
• Flexible and willing to travel between sites using a company‑provided vehicle.
• Full UK driving licence.
