Structural Design Engineer - Fire, Flood and Subsidence Repair

About the role

Sedgwick is recruiting a Structural Design Engineer for its design office in the United Kingdom. Working closely with the Design Office Manager, you will create practical design solutions for buildings damaged by fire, flood and subsidence, restoring them safely, cost-effectively and to the highest standards. The role is primarily home-based but involves regular site visits.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed design solutions for damaged buildings, including listed buildings, and produce detailed drawings
• Obtain the relevant permissions for each scheme
• Design and specify sub-structure schemes, drawing on knowledge of historic and traditional building techniques
• Help develop net zero, environmentally sustainable repair solutions and share knowledge by training colleagues
• Communicate clearly with stakeholders at a senior level and deliver first-class customer service on every scheme

Required profile

• An engineering degree or similar qualification
• A thorough understanding of construction engineering, especially sub-structure works
• Ability to influence and engage with stakeholders at a senior level
• Clear communicator, able to talk on the phone and face-to-face
• Attention to detail and a passion for engineering excellence

Required skills

• CAD proficiency for producing detailed design drawings
• Design and specification of sub-structure schemes
