Submarine Repair Specialist

About the role

Babcock is looking for a Submarine Repair Specialist to join its User Acceptance Group at the Devonport Royal Dockyard site in Plymouth, Devon. You will support the development and assurance of facilities used to maintain the Royal Navy's submarine fleet, making sure that facility designs, safety cases and operational processes meet end-user needs and comply with strict regulatory and engineering standards. The role is full time, 35 hours per week, with hybrid working of at least 2 days in the office.

Key responsibilities

• Support the delivery of User Acceptance Group activities so that facility designs meet operational requirements
• Advise engineering, safety and project teams on submarine maintenance and facility design
• Contribute to the development and management of functional requirements for new and existing facilities
• Provide specialist input into submarine upkeep, operations and future infrastructure developments
• Review design documentation and take part in design reviews to ensure compliance with user needs

Required profile

• Thorough knowledge of Devonport Dockyard
• Extensive experience of facility operations and upkeep, or extensive experience managing and delivering submarine deep maintenance activities and the facilities involved
• Desirable: broad understanding of operating within a Nuclear Licensed site
• Desirable: engineering degree and Chartered Engineer status; equivalent qualifications or experience considered
• Sole UK National able to obtain and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance
