Production Controller

About the role

Babcock is hiring a Production Controller for its Devonport Royal Dockyard site in Plymouth, Devon. The role supports the delivery of major naval engineering programmes by coordinating production activities, enabling work packages and resolving scheduling and resource challenges so that projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards. It is a full-time, permanent position of 35 hours per week with hybrid working.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate production activities so that materials, documentation and technical information are available when required.
• Develop and maintain production schedules to support project delivery.
• Manage stakeholder relationships across operational, engineering and project teams.
• Carry out inspections and audits to maintain high standards of safety, quality and housekeeping.
• Help resolve production challenges so that programme milestones are achieved.

Required profile

• Experience in a production planning, project controls, manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Understanding of production planning and scheduling processes.
• Knowledge of quality assurance, safe systems of work and continuous improvement practices.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance; eligibility may depend on place of birth, nationality and residency.
• An ONC qualification or equivalent is desirable; relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
