Supplier Quality Engineer

About the role

We are recruiting on behalf of a global manufacturer based in Plymouth that delivers industrial and IT infrastructure solutions. The Supplier Quality Engineer will join the Supply Chain team to ensure supplier performance, product quality and continuous improvement across a diverse supplier base.

Key responsibilities

• Approve and set up new parts using the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
• Work with suppliers to resolve quality issues and implement inspection plans, SPC and control plans.
• Review supplier corrective actions, conduct root‑cause analysis and drive preventative measures.
• Support supplier development through site visits, primarily in the UK.
• Identify and approve new suppliers together with commodity buyers.
• Conduct remote and on‑site supplier audits and agree improvement plans.
• Manage parts rejection processes and ensure material compliance with legal and customer requirements, including Full Material Disclosures (FMD).
• Investigate customer complaints related to purchased parts, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

Required profile

• Experience in quality management or quality assurance.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability (e.g., 8D methodology).
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
• High attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Strong communication skills with suppliers and customers.
