Systems Operations Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Systems Operations Engineer to maintain and enhance our core systems, platforms and cloud services. The role is hands‑on, focused on high performance, minimal downtime and operational excellence across a complex IT estate.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert support and optimisation for core systems, platforms and cloud services.
• Act as the escalation point for complex incidents, owning issues through to resolution.
• Analyse existing environments and recommend improvements to boost performance, resilience and efficiency.
• Author and maintain high‑quality technical documentation for current and future system designs.
• Ensure systems are patched, updated and compliant with best‑practice standards.
• Meet SLAs for support, request fulfilment and change delivery.
• Support operational projects, delivering assigned tasks and deliverables.
• Maintain security by design and produce reports/audits to evidence effective system management.

Required profile

• Strong experience with Microsoft Cloud environments (M365, Azure, Active Directory).
• Hands‑on experience with cloud and SaaS platforms, including security, identity, email and collaboration services.
• Knowledge of on‑premises infrastructure such as Windows Server, VMware and storage technologies.
• Methodical, analytical and highly organised with the ability to work under broad direction.
• Excellent communicator able to engage technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Proactive, adaptable and committed to continuous learning.
