About the role
We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to work one‑to‑one with a Year 5 pupil who has Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The position is based in a rural primary school in Sandbach and starts in September, offering a minimum one‑year contract.
Key responsibilities
- Provide personalised 1:1 support to the assigned pupil, reinforcing classroom learning and behavioural strategies.
- Assist the class teacher with lesson preparation, resource organisation and classroom management.
- Monitor and record the pupil’s progress, communicating updates to teachers and parents as required.
- Help maintain a calm and inclusive learning environment, using creativity and flexibility to adapt activities.
Required profile
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- Strong organisational skills and the capacity to manage challenging behaviour.
- Patience, a sense of humour and a genuine enjoyment of working with children.
- Good literacy and numeracy foundations.
