Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support for ASD/ADHD)

About the role

We are looking for a confident and nurturing Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and ADHD in a Brent primary school. The role starts in September 2026 and offers the chance to make a real difference in a supportive school environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one assistance to help the child access the curriculum and achieve their potential.
• Implement calm, consistent behaviour management and sensory regulation strategies.
• Adapt learning activities to suit individual needs and collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO.
• Support transitions, routines and social interactions throughout the school day.
• Maintain clear expectations while building a trusting relationship with the child.

Required profile

• Patient, resilient and proactive with a calm demeanour.
• Experience supporting children with ASD and ADHD, preferably in a primary setting.
• Ability to use de‑escalation techniques and maintain composure in challenging situations.
• Strong team player, reliable and punctual.
• Passion for working with children with additional needs and willingness to develop further SEND expertise.
