Temporary Finance Support Officer – Year End & Purchase Ledger

About the role
This six‑week temporary position supports a school’s finance team during a critical year‑end period. The successful candidate will cover the Purchase Ledger Officer for roughly three weeks and assist with year‑end preparation activities.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the purchase ledger, process invoices and run fortnightly BACS payments.
- Set up and maintain supplier accounts, handle direct debit schedules and post related invoices.
- Reconcile the Expenses Bank account daily and monitor the finance inbox.
- Support budget holders, process staff expense claims and credit‑card reconciliations.
- Prepare audit schedules, organise documentation and maintain clear records for year‑end review.
Required profile
- Part‑qualified or working towards ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent.
- Significant experience in bookkeeping or accounts payable.
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards, VAT and relevant software.
- Excellent attention to detail, time‑management and confidentiality.
