Temporary School Administrator – Durham

About the role

Hays Education is seeking a professional, organised, and proactive Temporary School Administrator to join a welcoming school in Durham from September 2026. This full‑time, fixed‑term role runs until the October half‑term, with the potential for extension for the right candidate.

Key responsibilities

• Provide general administrative support across the school.
• Manage reception duties and act as the first point of contact for visitors and telephone enquiries.
• Maintain accurate pupil records and update school databases.
• Support attendance administration and reporting.
• Process correspondence, emails, and incoming documentation.
• Assist with admissions, enrolment, and school communications.
• Schedule meetings and maintain calendars where required.
• Support senior leadership and wider school teams with administrative tasks.

Required profile

• Previous administration experience within a school environment (highly desirable).
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office packages.
• Experience using school MIS systems such as SIMS, Arbor, Bromcom, or similar (desirable).
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Professional and welcoming approach when dealing with pupils, parents, and staff.
• High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
