Therapeutic Mentor – Support Young People (Temporary to Permanent)

About the role
Reed Education, in partnership with a specialist therapeutic education setting, is seeking a compassionate Therapeutic Mentor to support young people aged 11‑18. The role is a long‑term temporary position with the potential to become permanent, starting in September 2026. You will work on‑site in Theale, South East England, helping students build confidence, emotional resilience, and engagement with learning.
Key responsibilities
- Build strong, positive, professional relationships with students.
- Provide consistent support inside and outside the classroom.
- Promote emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour strategies.
- Encourage participation in educational and personal development activities.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals.
- Help create a safe, nurturing learning environment.
- Support students in developing life skills, confidence, and independence.
Required profile
- Experience working with young people in education, youth work, mentoring, coaching, care or support settings.
- Patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building abilities.
- Ability to stay calm and resilient in challenging situations.
- Genuine passion for helping young people achieve their potential.
