Trade Finance Officer

About the role

A boutique London‑based bank is looking for a Trade Finance Officer to join its dynamic team. You will play a pivotal role in processing complex trade finance transactions while ensuring compliance with global standards and internal policies.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct first checks of documents under letters of credit, ensuring compliance with ICC rules such as UCP, URDG and URC.
• Process trade finance payments, produce vouchers and related documentation.
• Book accounting entries in the Equation system with meticulous accuracy.
• Review letters of credit and amendments, advise beneficiaries and maintain clear communication.
• Handle Swift messages (700 and 400 series) for trade finance transactions.
• Reconcile transaction registers and maintain up‑to‑date exposure records.
• Issue and amend bank guarantees, including bid bonds, performance bonds, demand guarantees and payment guarantees.
• Manage documentary collection orders, liaise with customers on discrepancies and provide technical guidance.
• Support senior colleagues with management information reports, filing, and scanning transactions into the DSX Data store.

Required profile

• Minimum five years’ experience in the trade finance function of an international bank.
• Hands‑on experience with issuance, advising, amendment and payment under letters of credit or guarantees.
• Strong knowledge of ICC Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credits (UCP), Uniform Rules for Collections (URC) and Uniform Rules for Demand Guarantees (URDG).
• Attention to detail, accuracy and a commitment to compliance.
