Traffic Management Operative - Nights

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Traffic Management Operative to work night shifts (19:00‑05:00) on a variety of road‑work projects. The role involves implementing traffic management schemes safely and efficiently, supporting maximum production while maintaining high health‑and‑safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all traffic‑management methods, including priority, stop/go boards, portable signals, convoy working, road and lane closures, and diversions.
• Ensure all work follows safe working methods, best‑practice procedures, and relevant legislation (Red Book, Chapter 8, ARTSM).
• Carry out risk assessments, method statements, and daily vehicle checks for cleanliness and safety.
• Identify improvement opportunities and report them to the line manager.
• Assist the public by directing them safely through site areas when required.
• Monitor site compliance, report unsafe conditions, and take corrective action when competent.
• Drive safely, adhere to speed limits, and park vehicles considerately.

Required profile

• Lantra 12d accreditation (minimum) or equivalent TTMBC 12d (M1‑M2).
• Lantra 12 a/b accreditation is advantageous.
• Valid UK driving licence.
• Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings related to traffic‑management works.
• Understanding of Chapter 8 and the Safety at Street Works and Road Works (Red Book) requirements.
• Mechanical aptitude for traffic‑light equipment is preferred.
