Trainee / Semi‑Senior Accountant (UK Tax & Payroll)

About the role
This position supports the finance team by handling bookkeeping, tax compliance and payroll for UK‑based clients. You will work with a range of accounting software to ensure accurate financial reporting and statutory filings.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain financial records using Xero, QuickBooks, VT, Sage 50 and Excel.
- Analyse financial data and prepare statements in line with FRS‑105 and FRS‑102.
- Compute corporation tax and prepare VAT and personal income tax returns according to UK legislation.
- Draft correspondence and submit filings to Companies House and HMRC.
- Update monthly payroll using Sage 50 payroll software.
Required profile
- ACCA Affiliate/Finalist or BSc in Accounting & Finance.
- Minimum 1 year experience in a reputable organisation, preferably a UK‑based firm.
- Strong analytical, communication and computer skills.
- Understanding of accounting and financial processes with ethical, professional behaviour.
Required skills
- Proficiency in Xero.
- Proficiency in Sage 50 (including payroll module).
- Proficiency in QuickBooks.
- Advanced Excel skills.
