Senior Systems & Project Accountant

About the role

Howden is looking for a motivated Senior Systems & Project Accountant for its Divisional Finance team, based in Milton Keynes. The role is a 12-month fixed-term contract and focuses on supporting the rebuild of the OneStream financial consolidation system for the Specialty and Reinsurance divisions, while improving month-end close and forecasting processes. The candidate will work with UK and overseas subsidiary accounting and FP&A teams, the Howden Group finance team and the Shared Service Centre.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the OneStream rebuild project for the Specialty/Reinsurance divisions, working with the heads of Specialty/Reinsurance Finance and FP&A teams.
• Define UAT testing, users and entities, and support Sprint UAT, E2E UAT and business acceptance testing.
• Coordinate testing, triage queries and validate fixes for the OneStream rebuild, including re-testing.
• Carry out reconciliation as data moves between OneStream cubes and into the new application.
• Support subsidiary finance teams with reporting queries in OneStream, especially during the move to the new cube and application.
• Improve and streamline month-end close procedures and collaborate with FP&A teams on budgeting and reporting, such as headcount data.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA) with at least 5 years' post-qualification experience.
• Self-starter with good communication skills, able to report progress to CFO/FD level.
• Mid-to-large group experience; financial services experience desirable but not essential.
• Able to multitask under competing deadlines, train others quickly and thrive in a dynamic, changeable environment.
• Flexible on place of work, with travel to the Milton Keynes office two or three times a week and occasional trips to the London office.

Required skills

• OneStream or a similar financial consolidation system (desirable).
• Understanding of integrating data from systems such as Workday into OneStream.
• Strong Excel skills and high numerical ability.
