Training Assessment & Assurance Manager – Aviation

About the role
The Training Assessment & Assurance Manager will lead a team responsible for designing, developing and assuring assessment materials for Royal Naval Aircraft Engineering Technicians. This full‑time position supports the Defence School of Aeronautical Engineering in delivering Level 4 and Level 5 qualifications.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the creation and quality assurance of assessment activities for aviation engineering students.
- Oversee the production of assessment materials aligned with BTEC Higher National/L5 standards.
- Coordinate with the University of Portsmouth and MOD to ensure accreditation compliance.
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of assessors and trainers.
- Monitor and report on assessment performance and continuous improvement.
Required profile
- Significant experience in aviation or aircraft engineering, preferably within a defence environment.
- Proven ability to manage teams and deliver high‑quality training or assessment programmes.
- Formal training in assessment methods (provided) and, ideally, an instructing qualification such as a Certificate in Education.

What we offer
- Family‑friendly hours (37 hrs/week) with up to 25 days paid leave, increasing to 30 days after five years.

- Non‑pensionable allowance of £6,000 per annum in addition to the basic salary.
