Training Manager / Trainer for UK Water Utilities (3‑6 month contract)

About the role
North Highland is seeking experienced Training Managers and Trainers to support UK water utility clients in delivering digital, technology and organisational change. This is a 3‑6 month contract requiring up to three days per week on client sites in the South of England, with additional travel to other locations as needed.
Key responsibilities
- Analyse training needs across roles such as HQ, field, control room, planners and customer operations, considering risk, safety and regulatory requirements.
- Design blended learning solutions using on‑the‑job training, simulations, tool‑based learning and short task‑focused modules.
- Plan and schedule delivery around shift patterns, peak operational periods and standby/emergency cover.
- Deliver engaging instructor‑led and virtual sessions, create demo environments and produce clear user guidance.
- Support the overall training strategy, needs analysis and accreditation approach for utility transformation programmes.
Required profile
- Proven experience designing and delivering training in operational or utility settings.
- Ability to work flexibly across shift patterns and adapt to emergency cover requirements.
- Strong analytical skills to identify skill gaps and differentiate mandatory from discretionary training.
- Excellent communication skills for both face‑to‑face and virtual delivery.
