Training Programme Director – IMT Lead for Greater Manchester

About the role
The Training Programme Director – IMT Lead for Greater Manchester will support the Head of School in the strategic development of the School of Medicine. Reporting to the School Board, the role oversees recruitment, retention and operational programmes for Internal Medicine Stage One doctors across the region.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the redesign of the IMS1 training system, including creation of a Lead TPD role and governance procedures for ARCPs.
- Develop and implement the School’s Recruitment and Retention Strategy.
- Manage programme administration, track allocation, LTFT processes and acceleration panels.
- Provide day‑to‑day support for year‑level TPDs and act as the primary point of contact for urgent matters.
- Coordinate teaching day presence, resolve educator queries promptly and support doctors returning from periods out of training.
- Contribute to the School Operational Programme and represent the School on the Board.
Required profile
- Extensive experience in medical education or training programme management within the NHS.
- Strong understanding of ARCP governance, LTFT arrangements and curriculum delivery for internal medicine.
- Proven ability to lead multi‑disciplinary teams and drive strategic change.
- Excellent communication skills for interaction with senior clinicians, educators and NHS partners.
