Transport and Logistics Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Transport & Logistics Manager to lead our Birmingham (Smethwick) operations. Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for safe, efficient and cost‑effective transport, despatch and yard activities while developing a high‑performing team.

Key responsibilities

• Manage inbound and outbound transport, third‑party hauliers and optimise load building, utilisation, back‑loads and routing.
• Deliver OTIF targets, control transport costs and align despatch with production plans.
• Oversee yard operations, forklift management, loading bays and stock control.
• Lead a strong Health & Safety culture, ensure compliance, conduct audits and incident investigations.
• Coach, develop and schedule transport and despatch teams, handling performance, attendance and disciplinary matters.
• Drive continuous improvement, system efficiencies and waste elimination.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing transport, despatch or logistics in a fast‑paced manufacturing or FMCG environment.
• Strong people‑leadership capability with hands‑on operational expertise.
• Solid understanding of Health & Safety legislation and risk management.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
