Transport Supervisor

About the role

Ocado is seeking an experienced Transport Supervisor to lead a team of LGV drivers in its logistics hub. You will be responsible for overseeing daily fleet operations, ensuring safety standards, and supporting a high‑performing workforce across day and night shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and motivate a team of LGV drivers, providing feedback and handling employee issues in line with company policy.
• Coordinate onboarding and remedial training with the training team.
• Manage day‑to‑day vehicle fleet availability, record defects, and oversee the driver defect process.
• Handle vehicle breakdowns, recovery, and coordinate with fleet technicians to minimise disruption.
• Monitor vehicle systems, including Samsara maintenance and temperature monitoring, and perform unit downloads, trailer wash cycles and mileage tracking.
• Conduct workplace inspections, yard checks and audits to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Promote a safety‑first culture, enforce site safety rules, use appropriate PPE and report accidents or hazards promptly.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing or supervising teams, preferably large groups.
• Strong internal and external customer service skills.
• Current, valid UK driving licence.
• Knowledge of the UK Highway Code, EU driving regulations and Working Time Directives.
• Effective communication skills and familiarity with standard HR policies.
• Previous experience in FMCG, fleet management or health and safety is advantageous.
