Traveller Liaison Officer

About the role

The Traveller Liaison Officer will lead the day‑to‑day management of a Traveller site for a local authority housing team in Wembley. You will act as the primary contact for residents and stakeholders, ensuring high‑quality tenancy and licence management, compliance and community engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the Traveller site, acting as the visible face of the landlord.
• Oversee licences from initial letting through termination and re‑let.
• Support residents to meet licence agreements and rental obligations.
• Promote financial inclusion and access to support services.
• Build positive relationships with residents, community groups and partner agencies.
• Coordinate multi‑agency meetings and develop action plans for complex cases.
• Maintain accurate resident records and record all interactions in real time.
• Conduct regular site inspections and ensure health‑and‑safety compliance.
• Use mobile technology and housing management systems to resolve issues proactively.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of local authority housing services and relevant support agencies.
• Knowledge of the Protection from Eviction Act 1977 and Housing Act 1988.
• Familiarity with welfare benefits, including Universal Credit.
• Awareness of equality, diversity and inclusion issues affecting Gypsy, Traveller and Roma communities.
• Experience in housing management, tenancy management or a related role.
