Tutor and Mentor – Flexible 1:1 Support in Maths, English or Science

About the role

We are seeking enthusiastic tutors and mentors to deliver one‑to‑one support in Maths, English or Science for young people in Dorset. The role involves helping learners who are outside mainstream education to stay engaged, rebuild confidence and re‑engage with learning.

Key responsibilities

• Provide personalised 1:1 tuition in Maths, English or Science across a range of age groups.
• Offer mentoring to develop confidence, self‑esteem and readiness for education.
• Adapt teaching methods to suit learners with SEN, SEMH or medical needs.
• Work flexibly in homes, community hubs or online according to student and tutor availability.
• Maintain accurate records of sessions and progress reports.

Required profile

• Minimum six months experience working with young people in an education or care setting.
• Passion for supporting learners who cannot access mainstream schooling.
• Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Subject knowledge in Maths, English or Science.
